Directive 92/42/EEC concerns efficiency requirements for new hot-water boilers fired with liquid or gaseous fuels. The Directive refers to standard boilers, low-temperature boilers and gas-fired condensing boilers with rated output < 400 kW.
Although partially repealed, the directive remains in force in relation to the need for certification by a Notified Body in accordance with article 4 of Regulation (EU) 813/2013. This Regulation is one of the implementing measures of directive 2009/125/EC on ecodesign requirements for energy-related products, which establishes the efficiency requirements for energy-using products and is designed to help the EU achieve the target of reducing energy consumption by 20% by 2020.
The part of the directive that has not been repealed specifies the minimum efficiency levels with which new hot-water boilers must operate in full-load or partial-load conditions.
As a notified body for the Boiler Efficiency Directive, IMQ can support companies by assessing their products’ conformity with the requirements for commercialisation on the European market. In particular, IMQ is authorised by the
Ministry of Economic Development
to perform conformity assessment procedures for products falling within the scope of Directive 92/42/EEC concerning efficiency requirements for new hot-water boilers fired with liquid or gaseous fuels.
