The EMC directive relates to electrical and electronic equipment that can cause electromagnetic disturbance or whose operation can be affected by disturbance generated by other sources. It also applies to systems and installations that contain electrical and/or electronic equipment and components (including those mounted on machinery). It establishes the obligation of affixing CE marking.
Devices whose emissions do not reach an intensity level such as to prevent the normal operation of radio and telecommunications equipment and whose immunity level in the operating conditions for which they are intended is such as to prevent unacceptable deterioration of their normal operating performance are deemed to conform with the requirements of the directive. Systems must be installed according to the rules of industrial engineering and in compliance with the indications on the intended use of their components, in order to meet the protection requirements laid down by the directive.
The products must be tested in accordance with the relevant international standards in order to verify their compliance with the requirements. The test results, in conjunction with the technical documentation, form the basis for the declaration of conformity with the requirements of the directive, and the CE marking of the product.
IMQ can support companies by issuing certificates of EU type-examination. It can also provide companies with other services, unrelated to its status as a notified body, such as:
