According to the lift directive, manufacturers/installers are “responsible for the design, manufacture and installation” of lifts and their components. It is their responsibility to issue a declaration of conformity for them and affix CE marking.
In the various phases of their work, manufacturers and/or installers make use of the services of notified bodies, such as IMQ, whose task is to verify and certify products and installations, so that their manufacturers can declare them to be in conformity with the requirements of the directive. Conformity assessment procedures vary depending on whether they relate to lifts or components and on the manufacturer’s choices.
IMQ’s services relating to the lift directive provide an effective response to all legal requirements.
In particular, as specified by the directive, IMQ offers a wide range of conformity assessment procedures covering the design, overall construction, installation and final inspection of lifts, as well as the design and construction of safety components.
IMQ can assess the conformity of a model of lift or a safety component (EU type-examination) and approve and monitor the quality assurance system of the lift installer or safety component manufacturer.
