The Low Voltage Directive establishes the safety criteria that electrically powered materials, equipment and machinery must meet in order to be placed on the market. The directive makes the CE marking of products mandatory. To affix this marking, the manufacturer must prepare the necessary technical documentation to enable the product’s conformity with the requirements of the directive to be assessed and, once conformity has been ascertained, must draw up and sign a declaration of conformity. The manufacturer must also take all necessary measures to design the manufacturing process in such a way as to ensure that the product conforms with the technical documentation and the requirements of the directive.
