Directive 2014/53/EU applies to all electrical and electronic devices that emit and receive radio waves with frequencies of less than 3000 GHz.
Radio equipment covers a growing range of products, including radios for radio broadcasting, television sets, devices for opening garage doors and residential monitoring systems. By their nature, these devices receive and generate radio waves, so it is therefore essential that they meet a series of technical requirements designed to ensure that they operate safely and efficiently.
The general principles of the RED directive for radio equipment include compliance with the essential product safety requirements, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and efficient use of the radio spectrum. Like other EU directives, the RED directive is based on harmonised standards for specific technical requirements, and compliance with these requirements presupposes conformity with the essential principles of the directive.
IMQ is authorised to deal with all products falling within the scope of the directive, in other words all equipment capable of emitting and/or receiving radio waves intentionally for the purposes of radio communication and/or radiodetermination. This also includes all equipment that incorporates a radio interface, even if its primary function is not telecommunications or radio transmission.
IMQ can support businesses by means of the following services:
