IMQ’s personnel certifications are a third-party guarantee that certified professionals possess, maintain and improve, over time, the necessary competence - i.e. knowledge, skills and talents - to carry out the tasks assigned to them.
Certification of competence is usually voluntary and issued in accordance with the technical standards and other documents and regulations applicable to the activity in question. To perform certain activities, however, the law requires practitioners to hold certifications issued by accredited conformity assessment bodies. For example, this applies to people who work on equipment containing fluorinated greenhouse gases, and providers of training relating to work on live electrical parts in electrical systems supplied at industrial frequency, at voltages exceeding 1000 V.
It is also worth bearing in mind that, to stand out in an increasingly competitive job market, especially for professionals who do not belong to orders and associations, it is no longer enough to demonstrate your competence with an academic qualification or curriculum vitae. Increasingly, the market requires certification of skills in accordance with the applicable UNI technical standards issued by a third-party body such as IMQ, accredited by ACCREDIA in accordance with CEI UNI EN ISO/IEC 17024.
The certification procedure involves:
Certificates are valid for different lengths of time depending on the certification scheme and may require annual maintenance.
The purpose of re-certification is to verify that the personnel in question have retained their skills, and involves exams and/or documentary checks, depending on the certification scheme.
The specific certification procedure for each scheme is described in the relevant special requirements.
