Halogen-free and antibacterial tests

The use of components for systems in special environments (tunnels, naval and offshore environments, venues for public entertainment, healthcare facilities, etc.) or the systems engineering regulations of certain foreign countries sometimes require additional testing, e.g. verification of the halogen content or antibacterial properties of materials.

To this end, IMQ can perform the following tests:

  • verification of halogen content and classification of halogen-free materials - IEC 60754-3
  • test method for content of halogens (Cable management systems) - EN IEC 63355:2022 - EN 50642
  • physical resistance of plastics to the action of micro-organisms, bacteria (P. aeruginosa) and fungi (Aspergillus, Peninicillium and other species)- ISO 846:1999
  • determination of antibacterial action on plastics and other non-porous materials - ISO 22196:2011 and Japanese standard JIS Z 2801:2010.
